Re: Sony DSC-S40 white LCD screen problem

Nate Groth Posted Jan 09, 2009, in response to:Bob Allen

Hey, just posting it worked for me too. Jason asked "Does this work for the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T70 as well?" Well I would be cautious. More amazing than the fact this fixed my white screen, it's amazing that so many people had the exact same issue & this fix worked. That indicates to me (as a dedicated hardware geek) this must be a slight manufacturing defect in this specific model. So I wouldn't necessarily expect it to work with other models, but it might. My best guess without taking mine apart (yet) is that there is a connector of some type that gets a little loose over time. The slight jar at the right angle is probably jostling that connection just enough to reseat it & make the contact work. I would also hazard a guess that if you send it in to Sony for repairs, they probably fix that defect for good. I won't be surprised if my camera has the problem happen again, and after enough bumps I expect it will eventually break for good. By then I'm this camera will already be near retirement; I've got a lot of good use out of it & can already replace it with a new model instead of paying the $110 to fix it.
