Re: JVC service or questions

Kevin Nabity Posted Jan 09, 2009, in response to:Stacy Sample

I have a JVC GR 303 VHS-C Camcorder that I just purchased at a local surplus store. The camera powers on, displays picture, the tape deck ejects fine, it plays back video recorded on other VHS-C cameras fine; however, when I go to record I make sure to have it set to Record on the control panel, that the camera beeps, and that it says that it is recording in the top right corner of the screen. The front light doesn't come on when it says it's recording and when I go back to play the footage I find nothing was actually recorded. The VHS-C tapes are brand new and record fine on other cameras, and the safety tab is in place on the cassette. I'm wondering if there is any cheap fix to this or if it is just a lost cause. I also noticed that the camera didn't have the little watch-like battery in the very bottom--I'm not sure if that is important or not. If you can provide any help or advice I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
