sony car cd won't play, radio plays fine haven't tried cassette yet

i have a sony XR 7200 hooked up to a sony CDX A20, when i try to play a cd i can hear the motor in the CDX A20 move the cd into the player from the storage shelf and hear it move it back, at least i believe that is what is happening, regardless no sound and i get error code 04, any help please? thanks, doug
