Bought used JVC VHS player/recorder - have no manual. How do you program it to record from tv?

We bought used JVC: (Hi-Spec Drive 4-head VHS (HR-VP54U) VCR Plus+C squared, w/cable channel changer) and have no manual. How do you program it (from the remote) to record from tv? We have cable. Thanks for any help available.
