This problem is caused by a manufacturing defect and which a "free" repair is on offer from JVC, this being conditional to you having the original purchase receipt, or packaging with warranty which was contained therein. As you appear to be in either Canada or the US, contact the customer services appropriate to your area. Please note the offer expires at the end of December 2008, this being the second extension that has been made on the original offer of nearly three years ago.
