Well, here it is end of 2008 and my Sony DSC-F717 was suddenly no longer able to read any memory stick that I have. After trying many diffiernt things, thumping or banging on the camera had occured to me and I had sort of tried it, but with no success. After reading your postbout the error, I decided to bang the camera a little more aggressively with my hand and suddenly it worked again - like a bad string of Christmas lights. Unbeleivable! Missed my Thanksgiving shots today, as I didn't know about this fix, but I'll be ready for Christmas 2008. Thanks!!
