HomeIs receipt always required for warranty repair I recently purchased a JVC GR-D72US off of ebay. It has the lens cap error problem. I see that JVC has a program to repair these faulty cammeras free of charge. I am wondering if JVC will refuse to repair this known defect because I was not the original owner of the camera.

JVC are only offering this special free repair to "original" owners as a gesture of goodwill, as this to my knowledge was in the agreement that was made with Sony who are compensating JVC for the cost of the repairs, them being the suppliers of the potentially defective modules that were fitted into a massive number / range of camcorders and this is why some form of proof of original purchase is required to obtain the repair, this can be either the original purchase receipt or the warranty leaflet from the box the camcorder came in. However that said, it is known that obtaining the repair can depend on not only where a person is located (country / location wise) but amazingly who they happen to talk to when they contact JVC as some haven't even been asked for a receipt, whereas others with the full documentation have experienced great difficulty in obtaining what they were entitled to, Canada being the main offender in that respect! You can only try your luck! |
