Sony DSC-P72 with Lens Block Assembly failure - does anyone have fix or source for new/used assemblies please?

I have had my five year old camera diagnosed with this problem and quoted over $300NZ to repair it - not worth it as I can buy a new camera for $249! On startup, the camera clicks and whirs but the lens doesn't come fully out of the body of the camera - have to remove the batteries to stop it. Looking for a less costly repair option - anyone have any ideas please?
