Viewing Sky in Second Room

Adam Nock Posted Nov 16, 2008

Is this safe or can it cause any damage to equipment

Quick question, I was messing about the other day and connected the Sky ariel output through a splitter back to the main house ariel, all tv's connected to the main ariel can now tune in to sky - no remote capability of course but it works - I have disconnected now because there did seem to be low current transferring through the cable - is this a safe means of distibuting Sky to other rooms? Thanks Adam

It will not do any harm and is a thing commonly used by many people, me included! When you say a small current, are you meaning that if you hold the metal end of the aerial socket and touch something else metallic you will (or might) receive a tingle? if that is what you mean its quite normal and a defect of "all" electronic switched mode power supplies fitted to modern equipment.
