This problem is caused by a manufacturing defect and which a "free" repair is on offer from JVC, this being conditional to you having the original purchase receipt, or packaging with warranty which was contained therein.
As you appear to be in either Canada or the US, contact the customer services
appropriate to your area, full details cannot be sent as they have to go to a
"direct" e-mail address, this due to them not only being lengthy but also for convenience, contain various JVC web links for the appropriate contacts.
Please note the offer expires at the end of December 2008, this being the second extension that had been made on the original offer nearly three years ago.
