Picture is partial "zoom" mode......edges of screen no longer visible.....HELP!!!

My issue is slightly different - it's a 6 year old 32" TV and yesterday when switching it on, the "crack" was a touch louder than "normal".....the screen edges are now out of vision, it's almost like a slight zoom mode. I've tried all the screen settings on the remote (wide, zoom, smart, 4x3)with no success. I've tried powering it down completely, changing the scart cable, all to no avail. Is this "terminal" or is there something that can be done at little cost, given the age of the set? The picture colour is fine by the way, no "black outs as described on other posts. Thanks for any ideas or advice in advance!!!
