Yes, unfortunately JVC has never admitted that any of the defective batch of image sensors were ever fitted into DF models, albeit that there is a sizable number of DF owners who have experienced this problem. Although the fault can be caused by the CCD, it can also be caused by a couple of other reasons, both of requiring an element of casing dismantling to gain access to the necessary areas that have to be investigated, plus of course having the appropriate test gear to hand to make the tests, this making it really a workshop repair. Unless a person has these facilities, then unfortunately there is nothing that can really be done by them. Sorry I cant give more hope but these are the facts concerning DF models, although if the device isn't very far out of warranty JVC has been known to do a goodwill repair on this, possession of expired warranty essential though!!
