TV repairs

Hi All, I have a 3-year old, 27" RCA tv that keeps blinking on and off. I do not know whether it would be more expensive to replace the tv or take it to a repair shop. Since this is a good tv I would hate to get rid of it. Does anyone have any suggestions as to a DIY repair? Thanks/
