Re[2]: jvc mini dv error. Lens cap Problem (GR-D73AA)

Christopher Posted Sep 07, 2008, in response to:JB38

No Prob...I had the same problem with my GR-D72U. There is a defect in the CCD image sensor. JVC will fix it for FREE! All it will cost you is shipping it to them. Call the Customer Care Center at 800-858-6442 and they will tell you were to get the Service Request Form. Send it off to your nearest service center and they ship it back all fixed up in less than a week. I must tell you though, you ONLY have until Dec. 31 2008 to do this. Not only did they fix mine, they cleaned the heads but also buffed out a scratch. After you get yours fixed, post as many helps as you can to others.

The problem is Christopher that part of your info (phone number) only applies to the US, and it should be pointed out to anyone else who may be reading this that the free repair offer has differing procedures dependant on where (country wise) a person resides, for instance JVC Canada not being just so obliging as was experienced by people such as yourself when dealing with JVC US, with the UK (E/EK models) - Australia and New Zealand (AU /AA models) having another procedure altogether. Experience gained over the last three years of sending this info to people, has revealed that many although qualifying the requirements to receive the free service can experience great difficulty in actually obtaining the repair, that is should they reside anywhere other than the US. PS: The info I send fully explains the reason for the defect and provides a list phone numbers / web links applicable to the various countries, this being the reason it has to go to direct e-mail addresses, as its not suitable to paste onto a site such as Pechorins. PPS: It should also be pointed out that not all camcorders showing this problem are covered by a free repair, only certain models are! and I vet this fact before sending info on to anyone.
