How do you remove manual focus ring?

My camera's mic quit working after plugging in and ex. mic. I need to know how to remove the manual focus ring so as to be able to remove the plastic around the mic jack area. I believe that the internal jack is shorted out. The camera's sound, some what works with and ex. mic plugged in if you move the jack just right. Thanks for any help in this matter.
