Power light flashing, TV won't turn on.

JVC TV model # PD-42V485 364W 42Inch 120v~60HZ (Approx. 4 YO) My tv is showing a green power button, when I try to turn it on it blinks and I can hear noise in the back ground and then it turns off automatically. Within 15 seconds. No picture comes on and the green light will continue to flash on and off slowly. I'm willing to call someone to fix it, but I'm very vunerable about the knowledge of the TV as my husband recently passed away and he wore the electrical pants in our house. Kind Regards, jo
