Thanks, but we really want to get this thing up and running.
This is the real story behind the camera (talked to the husband, finally). The original owner worked in a local electronics store in the 1980s and bought this three-piece unit new, in 1983, for a whopping $2,700! Ten years ago, he bought a digital camera and put this up in the attic in storage. They took it out to sell at the garage sale, it powered up fine, they switched it off to move it, and it hasn't powered since.
The camera and its VCR two-part unit have been kept in very nice condition (very clean). The 13-pin cable seems straight, and its hold on both ends seems strong. The VHS units works fine as stand-alones.
The trouble is that we aren't getting any power from the VHS unit to the camera. We have the manuals for both "parts" of the set-up, but they haven't helped.
We DID see a BOLD precaution about powering the unit up for an hour or two every six months or the pickup tube would lose efficiency. The owner hadn't turned it on for about ten years. It DID, remember, power up for him at first, but it's deader 'n a doornail now.
Any help would be appreciated. I've researched this thing until I've nowhere left to look. Can someone verify that this model is indeed identical to the Magnavox VR8282 & VR8283 models, as well as JVC GX-N70U, GX-N80U, and GX-N90U models?
My daughter would REALLY like to get this working. Thanks for your help!
