How do turn off the time displayed at the bottome of the screen?

I have a JVC D-Series televison. I want to be able to set the time, so that I can use the timer if I want, but I don't want the time displayed at the bottom of the screen all the time. How can I turn the time display off? I can't find anything in the manual to help. Thanks
