second opinion

i have a sony trinitron with surround sound thats 10 years old and just last week the screen started to fade away into this fuzzy picture at 2 or 3 sec. intervoltes,starting from clear to fuzzy.I took it to a technition and he said that the (FT modual and tuner) are gone and it would cost me $220 and $160 is in parts.He said it was worth fixing because there good TV's. I would like your opinion please.
