JVC El Kameleon shows err 32

I have an old school JVC Kameleon. Its been going strong for 7 years, but now its not playing cds. When I hit the eject button the face does not slide down. The keyboard slides in and then I can hear a winding noise. After a while the keyboard slides out and a ERR 32 message comes up. I have moved the face by hand but am afraid that I'll never get the CD back if I put one in. Actually I think it might have one in it. Is it trash or can it be fixed?
