The adjustment you are looking for is on the flyback transformer. On my set the flyback is at the bottom to the right of center. There should be 2 adjustments on the flyback assembly -the one at the bottom is what you are looking for. Mine has a white material on it for knowing where it is set at the factory. The best way to adjust it is to turn on the TV, get a black screen, and adjust it clockwise a tiny bit until you see retrace lines (diagonal lines). Then back it off until you don't see the lines anymore. All you have done is increased the current to the CRT cathodes enough so that the detection circuit is satisfied and it doesn't do a video blank. Of course this is a cheap trick to squeeze a little more life out of a dying CRT.
