Sony CD Changer CDX-A35RF has stopped functioning. Remote displays "E-04" message. I don't know what this means. Hoping someone can assist me.

Hi there. I drive a 1994 Volvo 850 with original sound system which includes a Sony 10-disk CD Changer (CDX-A35RX). Recently, the CD changer has stopped functioning. Remote control displays "E-04" message. I have no idea what this means or what i can do to fix error. Can anyone offer assistance? Thanks.
