As you have restricted your e-mail address full info cannot be supplied, (this for technical reasons) however it all boils down to whether or not the tape you inserted actually has video footage on it or not? as if it definitely has, then the "simplest" thing it could be is that the video head requires cleaning.
As that model can suffer from the lens cap problem, as a test can you view (in the LCD) what the actual "camcorder" is pointing at when its in the camera mode ready to take video? if you can then the video head requiring cleaning is the likely reason for the problem, but if you cant then its the lens cap defect.
