mvc-cd500 going thru disks like mad. sometimes wont even get one use out of a disk

it has left me in bad perdicaments due to the loss of photos and using the canmera for business selling on ebay. i've noticed how most people say use sony disks but finding them is next to impossible since they no longer produce them. i have a stack of disks that all say format error. is there anything i can do to them to recover them?
