Mpeg 2 video files play without sound.

I have a JVC Eviro Hard Disk Camcorder. When I convert the MOV files into MPEG 2 format I get no sound. AVI or MPEG 1 is not a problem. I also have a Easy TV Capture PC TV tuner and the same thing. It records into Mpeg 2 format and on replay it has no sound. The picture is great.
