Repair or replace a 1980s NuTone intercom system

Our house (built ca. 1980) came equipped with an intercom system (and radio) controlled from a central unit located in the kitchen. The system stopped working about a year ago and we are looking into replacing it with a new unit (or, less likely, repairing the existing one). Can all the existing wiring (connecting to the various rooms) be used? Whom should we contact to do the job (we live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada)? Thanks, M.E.
