Well its really a case of the CCD image sensors having failed due to a manufacturing defect, JVC having had a special free repair offer on this running for the last 30 months or so, however the free repair expired at the end of Dec 2007 and a qualification was also attached to the repair insomuch that it only applied to original owners who still had the purchase receipt as proof of this status. I suspect that this "might" not apply in your case, and if not I suggest the only option you have is to purchase the image sensor modules yourself and fit them, this possibly being well within your capabilities as apart from the case separation all it really involves is to unsolder the 16 pin modules from a small PCB then refit the new ones, this action guaranteed to cure the problem.
