If the camcorder is effectively dead then its almost certain that one of the internal fuses has blown, the fuse referred to being a special miniature soldered in type. It should be said that its not unknown for this particular fuse to have gone as "just one of those things!", and it doesnt in most cases indicate something dastardly has gone wrong.
