TV message won't turn off.

I just picked up this tv, Model #AV-20BP3, and the message (clock stopped) is always on the bottom of the screen. It will temporarily go away when you change the tv volume or channel, but returns as soon as those displays go away. I don't have the original remote, and haven't found a way to set the clock.
