I had no idea that so many people have the same problem with their Sony Trinitron. We have had ours for approx 8 years same thing standby light flashes black screen but we do have sound SO FAR. Too scared to get a tv repair man incase it costs the ea

rth just to tell me that the tv is useless. I too will be going for a different brand next time.
