Sony T1 appears to have burnt lcd screen

Not sure if anyone has seen this before. My T1's lcd screen looks burnt in the corner when it's off and you can't see image in that part when it's on. Seems to be spreading / getting worse. I suspect I need to replace the screen. Does anyone know if there is any other solution? Will that for sure fix this problem or could it be something else internally?
