I've just had the same error message appear on my Sony camcorder. It appeared after the machine "ate" a digital tape and now the machine will not properly eject cassette tape. I've asked out local electronics shop to look into this, here in Japan. In the meantime, have you been able to figure out what the C:23:31 code means? Thanks. Tom Hayes
