Failure of the buttons on the cassette lid means that the cassette cannot be ejected. Does anybody know how to get around this problem and eject the tape?

Failure of all the controls in the cassette lid occurred because the ribbon cable connection broke at the position of the hinge; a simple metal fatigue, caused by bending when the lid opened and closed. Is this a difficult/ expensive repair?
