I have the same problem, I've been told it's the CCD Lens and it has been recalled, however JVC will not fix my camera because I don't have the original purchase reciept since my camera was a gift a couple years ago, do you know where I might find the CCD lens and if I can replace it myself?

The special free repair programme that has been in operation for nearly three years expired at the end of 2007 so the receipt angle doesnt really matter now, although in saying that if you did have it JVC has been known in some instances to carry out a "goodwill" repair.
The "U" suffix your model has can indicate it being either US or Canadian sourced, however only one possible retail supplier of the module is known about, it costing approx $90.00.
Replacing the module isn't exactly hi tech work, but it does involve unsoldering the defective CCD module then soldering the new one in, the module having 14 small connection pins, needless to say any person carrying out this work has to be used to working on precision equipment and possess a good quality soldering iron with a fine tip.
