Re[11]: JVC Mini DV Camcorder

JB38 Posted Jan 19, 2008, in response to:Alan Brown

Sorry about DV typing error, as I really meant the camcorders A/V socket but for some reason pressed D, DV of course not coming into the equation with what you are doing. However on checking the manual I suspect that the most likely cause for your problem is by you using the JVC scart adaptor whilst you are attempting to record into the camcorder, the problem being that this adaptor is purely a one-way "scart output" device, it cannot be used to take a signal from whatever the scart may be plugged into and feed it back to the camcorder. As you say you also have a Sony VCR with phono out / in sockets, forget about the scart adaptor and just connect the yellow plug from the camcorder into the Sony's yellow "output" socket and do likewise with the red audio lead, make sure you have selected the camcorders A/V input to "in" and that in theory should work this time. If you find its OK, you could have your original VCR do the same job if you purchased one of these cheap scart to phono adaptors, but its essential that its the type with a small slider switch on the scart plug to enable it to operate as either an "out" or "in" device, types that do not have that switch are not suitable.
