Sony Trinitron 36 inch television

Bought ours in 2003,tv comes on( you can hear it)then no picture or sound, standby light comes on. Occasionally will come on and be fine, but most the time,doesnt work.Had it looked at, the guy thinks its the tube too much to repair. Might as well get a new tv.
