My 27v40 went belly-up in late December, 2007. The manufacture year is 1998. Same symptoms as most everyone else here. I bought the three replacement parts you mention from mcminone.com - total cost about $35.00 with shipping. I put the new parts in and re-flowed the solder around the transformer and some other parts near the obvious hot spots. The TV now works great again! IF you can solder well and know how to avoid getting zapped by the 30,000V flyback, then this repair is pretty easy. The hardest part is carrying that 93lb TV around!!! My back still hurts.

I have had electronics training although I do mostly programming now so I am a bit rusty with soldering. Do you have a schematic for the the KV-27V40 that you could upload? Thanx, John |
