Re your problem, I am not actually saying that it is the heads but only that this is the only thing you could try, as indeed would be the first thing tried on any service workbench when this type of problem is encountered, albeit for process of elimination purposes!
The audio can of course also be affected by a dirty / faulty head as the audio comes off the same head as the video, however I send the cleaning info on to enable you to at least try this first before deciding on other measures.
