sony cyber shot dsc s40 'turn the power off and on again'

I have seen postings on several sites, but no reply. Camera is 2 yr old, has not been dropped/abused. Problem has not been resolved by battery replacement, removal of memory stick, or plugging it into the computer utilizing cable for downloading pictures. Thoughts/suggestions appreciated please.
