No sound

Hi, I have had this camcorder since new. Love it and still want to use it. My problem is when I play back a tape the sound comes on fine for a few monments and then static starts and then nothing. It is like some component is heating up and gives up. Turn it off for a short time and it starts over again OK. Thanks for any help. Jim
