HomeAnybody know how to open with no power? Battery fell off during taping and have not been able to get any power on the camera since. Power LED does not come on... display does not come on... nothing happens when the tape carrier opens... no whirring of gears... no nothing... NADA... Have tried different batteries and DC adapter to no avail. I've long since replaced the camera, but it has a sentimental tape in it I'd like to retrieve. If someone comes up with a no-cost-to-me solution, I'll give them the camera. No Joke! I'll even pay for shipping. Any takers?

You cannot open any JVC camcorder without power, and if something happened (like camcorder being dropped etc) that caused the battery to fall out in the first place with it not working when replaced, then it possibly indicates that an internal fuse has blown. The only method or retrieving a loaded tape is for the case to be separated and power applied from a 3 volt battery (2 X 1.5v in series) to the top of the loading motor and this will cause the tape to eject.
