Homelooking for a power cord for a Sony TC-560D reel to reel recorder. the recorder has a removable 4-prong female to conventional 2-prong male 117 V a/c cord that is missing. can i hook up only 2 of the prongs?

I just got my Dad's old TC-560D this week, and the AC power cord is only populated on the two pins adjacent to the square key. The wall-socket end is not polarized, so I think you could safely hard-wire those two. Also, immediately above the connector it reads: "ACinput DC 12V" which backs up my deductions about the cord.
