HI8/Digi8 8mm tape playback

I am trying to playback a HI8/Digi8 Tape. Recorded in digi8. When press the play button, at first it runs for 3secs then picture get distorted and then picture goes away. On the screen it shows that it is trying to transfer from digi8 to hi8 and wise versa. It contiously do this without giving any pictures. Can you help on this issue.
