Try making sure that you dont have the accesory and battery wires mixed up. The battery will only allow certain current to flow through, thus making only "off-line" buttons work. Double check that. Also, if you have a detacheable face then take it off and clean the connections. Lastly make sure your power button is intact and that it's receptor is not shot.
