Bringing US electronics to UK

Rick H Posted Nov 28, 2007

What do I need to purchase before leaving?

Aplogies in advance if this comes off as a rudimentary question, or has been answered before, but I'm stumped. Appears my family and I may be moving from the US to UK in a few weeks, and I'd love to bring over my US AV equipment rather than purchasing new versions over there. I understand about plug converters for small items like cell chargers. However, I also have a Sony 40" LCD and the Bose 3-2-1 system, and would love to continue using them. I'm told I'll need a way to convert power from 110v to 220v, and also from NTSC to PAL. Lastly, I guess regionalization is a factor on DVDs. So, my questions are: 1) do I need to buy separate products for all those tasks, or is there one solution? 2) what do I need? 3) where is it sold? 4) Although not exactly AV-related, does anyone have a sense of what else I'll need for general power conversions around the rest of the house(ie. is there something I can reasonably plug an American multi-outlet power strip into)? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
