9 blinks on front power light. won't turn now at all. $100.00 home visit. I know my local service has no idea whats going on. should I buy a new set? I purchased from Sears Christmas 05

what was a minor nuisance is now a full blown problem. No way to turn on the set with a 9 blink light on the front panel. Further after moving the armoire in which the set is housed i found the serge light tripped on the power strip?! What do u think. I know my local fix-it place only took a dent out om my armoire and charged me $100 to pick it up tuesday.
