The flashing image you are seeing is probably a reminder to replace your memory battery...the CR### type about the size of a nickel. I had to do that in mine as well. As to your other problems...I can't help you but hope someone will direct us to a forum and chat room of some type. I really like my camera but it is always nice to talk to people who have more insights and experience with camcorders. Later......Curt
