I hadn't used my camera for 2 years because of the problem, didn't even have a receipt or anything, but finally called them. They didn't care about proof of purchase. I think it's a very common problem. I paid to ship the camera to them, they fixed it for free and returned it within two weeks. No questions asked. They were really easy to work with. Good luck!
