deh-p3700mp

i need to figure out how to use my auxilary mode on my deh-3700mp car cd player. the aux is in the back, and when i attach my mp3 to it with a mini-to-mini cable it doesnt work. i have seen the aux1 come on the faceplate screen before but i don't know how it happened or how to do it. can anyone suggest what i should do?
