JVC camcoder is not recognized by the laptop

Hi , I am having a JVC GR-D350U camcoder, without any softwares being provided by JVC. Luckly I got Windows media player installed on my system and got a firewire. But the camcoder is not at all shown up when I connect the camcoder to my laptop which is running on Windows XP SP2. I checked all the necessary drivers and all are properly installed for my firewall port. Please help. Debdeep Singha
